Oklahoma defensive lineman Isaiah Thomas will represent the Sooners at the Reese’s Senior Bowl, the game announced on Thursday. Thomas, a Tulsa, Oklahoma native, had a strong fourth season for the Sooners.

In 2021, the former four-star prospect out of Memorial High posted eight sacks and 11.5 tackles for loss. He tallied 38 total tackles with 18 solo tackles and four forced fumbles.

Thomas also had a great year in 2020 for the Sooners. He had 31 tackles with another eight sacks and a forced fumble.

The 6-foot-5, 255-pound edge-rusher is not currently among Mel Kiper’s top 10 at his position for the NFL Draft. The Senior Bowl is a great opportunity for Thomas to shine on a big stage before the combine.

After the departure of Lincoln Riley for USC, Isaiah Thomas opted out of the Alamo Bowl versus Oregon. The Sooners won that game 47-32, coached by former head coach Bob Stoops.

Transfer quarterback visits with Oklahoma staff

Florida State transfer quarterback Chubba Purdy received an offer from Oklahoma earlier this week. On Thursday, he and his family visited with new head coach Brent Venables.

A former On3 Consensus four-star recruit out of the Class of 2020, Purdy entered the NCAA Transfer Portal back on Nov. 3 after appearing in one game this season.

Over two seasons, Chubba Purdy has played in four games and completed 32-of-58 passes for 317 yards and four touchdowns with one interception before opting to transfer. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound quarterback is an Arizona native and the brother of former Iowa State quarterback Brock Purdy, who recently declared for the 2022 NFL draft.

Oklahoma has already added one transfer quarterback since the departure of freshman Caleb Williams and decommitment of 2023 prospect Malachi Nelson, getting former UCF star Dillon Gabriel to decommit from UCLA.

On3’s James Fletcher contributed to this report.
