2025 4-star WR Jaden Nickens commits to Oklahoma Sooners
Oklahoma is already off to a strong start in the 2025 cycle, with four commitments already pledged and top-five class in the On3 Industry Football Team Recruiting Rankings. And though much of the attention is on a few major 2024 commitments coming up, the Sooners are scorching hot in 2025.
On Saturday, Oklahoma City (Okla.) four-star wide receiver Jaden Nickens choose OU over offers from Oklahoma State, Penn State, Missouri and a handful of other programs.
The 6-foot-3, 170-pounder is the No. 111 overall prospect in the 2025 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 18 wide receiver and the No. 2 recruit in the state of Oklahoma.
He held Power Five offers from Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Penn State, Arkansas, Missouri, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, and TCU. He also becomes the third wide receiver pledge in the 2025 class for Brent Venables and Co., all of whom rank among the top 250 prospects in the country.
The Sooners already had pledges in place from four-star Checotah (Okla.) wideout Elijah Thomas and Ennis (Texas) four-star Gracen Harris.
OU also has commitments in 2024 from four-star wide receivers Zion Ragins, Zion Kearney and Ivan Carreon, with each of them also ranking among the top 250. The Sooners also have a pair of quarterback commits in ’24 — Michael Hawkins and Brendan Zurbrugg — along with four-star passer Kevin Sperry committed in 2025.

August could be a huge month for Oklahoma Football
Following Nickens’ commitment, all eyes now turn to the 2024 class, where OU has a trio of major targets set to come off the board in the next few weeks.
Five-star defensive linemen Dominick McKinley, Williams Nwaneri, and David Stone will announce their decisions between now and Sept. 1, with the Sooners in strong position for all three. Nwaneri is up first, making his decision on Monday, August 14 between Oklahoma, Missouri, and Georgia, with Tennessee and Oregon also included in his top five.
Stone will then make his commitment on August 26, with Miami and Michigan State viewed as the main competition to land him.
And McKinley will close things out when he decides on Sept. 1, with Ohio State, LSU, Texas and Texas A&M also battling for the elite defensive lineman. The Sooners currently have a top-20 recruiting class, but August could be a pivotal moment for Brent Venables and Co. in this cycle.
