Oklahoma has put together one of the fastest-rising recruiting classes in the nation, thanks to a strong past couple of months that have witnessed multiple important commitments.

Since the end of August, the Sooners have added three top-150 prospects to their pledge list: Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy Five-Star Plus+ defensive lineman David Stone, Melissa (Texas) four-star DL Nigel Smith II and Tulsa (Okla.) NOAH four-star EDGE Danny Okoye.

Brent Venables and Co. aren’t done trying to add top talent to the fold, either. Oklahoma is now trending for another blue-chip prospect in Logan (Iowa) Magnolia four-star interior offensive lineman Grant Brix, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).

The 6-foot-6, 290-pounder has long been contended for by the Sooners, Nebraska and Kansas State. On Oct. 14, Oklahoma recruiting insider Josh McCuistion logged an RPM selection in favor of OU landing Brix, bumping the Sooners ahead of Nebraska at 48.8%. The Cornhuskers are right behind at 37.9%.

Brix is the No. 90 overall prospect and No. 3 IOL in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the top-ranked recruit in Iowa.

The mammoth lineman has made his fair share of trips to all three frontrunners. He took a trio of official visits in June, then took unofficials to Norman, Manhattan and Lincoln at the end of July. Touted recruiter and offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh is leading Oklahoma’s recruitment of Brix.

“Grant Brix … you don’t know. He is tough to read,” McCuistion said on The Inside Scoop earlier this week. “He doesn’t talk to anybody, really even the coaches … there’s not a lot of pushing and cajoling, he’s just gonna do what he’s gonna do and he’s gonna do it whenever he feels like it.”

Brix has an On3 NIL Valuation of $102K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Sooners building major momentum in the trenches

Oklahoma has already added another offensive line commitment this week, as London (England) NFL Academy three-star offensive tackle Daniel Akinkunmi chose the Sooners. The rising Englishman makes four O-linemen pledged to Bedenbaugh and OU.

Akinkunmi joined a trio of three-stars: Fulton (Miss.) Itawamba Agricultural OT Isaiah Autry, Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon interior offensive lineman Eugene Brooks and Edmond (Okla.) Santa Fe IOL Josh Aisosa. Brix could be a headlining piece in the trenches.

The Sooners’ class ranks No. 11 in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Ranking. Behind Stone, Longview (Texas) four-star running back Taylor Tatum is the top-ranked burner in the cycle, while Missouri City (Texas) four-star wide receiver Zion Kearney and Los Alamitos (Calif.) four-star tight end Davon Mitchell are both top-100 recruits.
