Oklahoma quarterback signee Nick Evers makes heartfelt NIL promise
Oklahoma Sooners signee Nick Evers hasn’t thrown a pass yet in Norman. However, that’s not stopping him from working to make a difference in the community. The freshman is planning to donate 100% of the proceeds from his first NIL deal to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The Flower Mound, Texas native will split the proceeds between Make-A-Wish North Texas and Make-A-Wish Oklahoma.
Evers told KFOR that early memories of Make-A-Wish events helped drive his passion. He has a drive to help bring joy to young, sick patients.
“It was really just like, really heartwarming to see all these kids going through these life-threatening diseases, and you know, just being able to put a smile on their face,” Evers said.
“I really just wanted to use my name and whatever I could provide to help these kids put a smile on their face and encourage them to take one more day and just keep fighting.”
Evers’ pledge making a larger impact
According to Make-A-Wish Oklahoma President and CEO Brad Barghols, Nick Evers’ simple pledge is making a much greater impact than the QB probably anticipated. Other student-athletes around the country are following his example and reaching out to see how they can help.

“As much as Nick enjoys Make-A-Wish and is fond of Make-A-Wish, I am not sure he understands how much good is going to come out of this,” Barghols told KFOR.
“I’ve been getting calls from other Make-A-Wish chapters with athletes that are reaching out to them wanting to follow Nick’s lead. They thought it was great. And so it’s not just Oklahoma and Texas that will benefit. There’s schools all over the country that will be benefited from Nick’s idea.”
Evers chose Oklahoma over Florida and multiple other programs. He’s the No. 8 quarterback recruit from the Class of 2022, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
The new Sooner has an NIL valuation estimated at $59K. That is No. 35 in On3’s NIL valuation rankings for high school prospects. Evers has 15,000 Instagram followers and 16,800 Twitter followers.
