Oklahoma quarterback General Booty enters NCAA transfer portal
Oklahoma quarterback General Booty has entered the NCAA transfer portal according to On3’s Pete Nakos.
Booty departs from the Oklahoma after spending the past two years with the Sooners as a backup quarterback. Exiting from Norman following the conclusion of spring practices on April 20 in the team’s spring game where he rushed for a 32-yard touchdown to start the second half.
In each of his two seasons with the program Booty has made one game appearance, appearing under center for Oklahoma against TCU in 2022 and in the 2023 season opener against Arkansas State. Recording zero statistics in both matchups.
Booty started off his college career at Tyler Junior College in Texas where in 2021 he started in 12 games and completed 266 passes for 3,410 yards and 27 touchdowns. Also rushing for 250 yards and two scores to help lead the Apaches to a 7-5 season and win in the TIPS-CHAMPS Heart of Texas Bowl before transferring to Oklahoma.
Booty has become one of the most recognizable names in college football throughout his career, capitalizing on his namesake through numerous NIL deals. But none more notable than his collaboration with Rock ‘Em Socks, an Orlando based company that launched their underwear collection with Booty riding a horse only wearing a cowboy hat, Oklahoma cowboy boots, and the company’s personalized underwear. Also releasing The General’s Crimson Cream, a body cream produced by the Oklahoma City-based company Prohibition Soap.
Booty joins Jacob Switzer as the second Oklahoma quarterback to enter the transfer portal this offseason, leaving Jackson Arnold, Casey Thompson and freshmen Michael Hawkins and Brendan Zurbrugg in the Sooners’ quarterback room.

The Sooners are set at QB for 2025
Jackson Arnold is feeling his confidence grow as the starting quarterback for the Oklahoma Sooners entering the 2024 campaign.
After sitting behind Dillon Gabriel for the majority of the 2023 season, it’s Arnold’s job to lead the Sooners into the SEC. Following the team’s spring game, Arnold explained why this offseason of growth has been much easier on him.
“Very comfortable,” Arnold said regarding the difference in knowing he’s the starter for the Sooners entering 2024. “It really helps with my confidence too, just knowing that I’m going in as the starter, for a game like today. Last season, Dillon was the starter for the whole year. I went into the Alamo Bowl, but it’s not the same as now.
“Having this whole spring to get with these guys, step in and be their leader, it’s been very comfortable for me, and helped me build a lot of confidence.”
