WATCH: Oklahoma releases tear-jerking video for Red River Showdown
The Oklahoma-Texas rivalry is one of the most heated rivalries in all of college football. Rivalries like it are a big part of what makes college football so very great.
Earlier today, the Oklahoma Sooners released a tear-jerking video for the “Red River Showdown“.
Check it out below.
The little boy talks about how he gets to witness history and he’s right. Every college football game is a part of history, especially in a storied rivalry like the Oklahoma-Texas game.
There are so many iconic plays in the history of the rivalry, the biggest of which was likely the “Superman leap” by former Oklahoma Sooner Roy Williams.
Williams leaped in the air, fully extended, forcing Texas quarterback Chris Simms to throw an interception that was returned for an easy touchdown by Oklahoma linebacker Teddy Lehman.
Check it out below as Williams shares his thoughts on the 20th anniversary of the “Superman play”.
Williams would go on to win the Jim Thorpe Award and the Bronko Nagurski Trophy during his time at Oklahoma. He was also was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year in 2001.
Lehman was a two-time All-American during his time in Norman. He also was named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, won the Dick Butkus Award, and the Chuck Bednarik Award.
College GameDay is at the game
The ESPN College GameDay crew will be in town for the matchup between Oklahoma and Texas. The game will be on Saturday in Dallas, Texas at the Cotton Bowl. Kickoff is slated for noon EST for the game between the two bitter rivals.
The Texas Department of Transportation has already begun trolling Oklahoma this week with a sign placed beside I-35.

Texas running back Bijan Robinson
Texas will be looking to feed the rock to their Heisman Trophy candidate of a running back, Bijan Robinson. He’s coming off a career day last weekend against TCU in which he gashed the Horned Frogs for 216 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground on 35 carries.
Few running backs in college football could handle that kind of a massive workload, but that’s just a small piece of what makes Robinson one of the very best at his position in the country.
After his stellar performance against TCU, Robinson is now second in the nation and tops the Big 12 in rushing yards (652), rushing yards per game (130.4), and all purpose yards per game (163.8).
Oklahoma quarterback Spencer Rattler
For the Oklahoma offense, they’ll hope their quarterback Spencer Rattler can complete a high rate of his passes much as he did against the Kansas State Wildcats last Saturday. He completed 22 of his 25 passing attempts for 243 passing yards, while tossing in two touchdowns and one interception. Rattler has underwhelmed in his 2021 campaign, but the performance against the Wildcats was a step in the right direction.
Oklahoma has been missing the services of speedy wideout Theo Wease, Jr. He was ruled out for the first half of the season due to a lower-body injury he suffered in practice before the Tulane game. The former five-star wide receiver was set to take on an even bigger role in the 2021 season.
The No. 6 Oklahoma Sooners (5-0) face off against the No. 21 Texas Longhorns on Saturday in Dallas, Texas. Kickoff is slated for noon EST.
