LOOK: Oklahoma reveals rosters, names head coaches for Saturday's spring game
The Oklahoma Sooners’ spring game is on Saturday and the school just unveiled the rosters for the much anticipated contest. The teams are split into two teams–the red team and the white team. Check out the list of players on both sides.
The red team is loaded with multiple playmakers at the receiver position, as Oklahoma speedsters Marvin Mims and Theo Wease, Jr. are both on the red team. It looks like Dillon Gabriel will quarterback for both teams in the game, so he’ll be getting his share of work in. Wease and Mims are two of the most electrifying receivers in all of college football and Sooner fans are hoping both players can stay healthy for the 2022-2023 campaign.
One of the best parts about spring games is for fans to get a glimpse into the future. This will be the first live action Oklahoma fans will get to watch their team with new head coach, Brent Venables, running the show. Former Heisman Trophy winner Baker Mayfield will also be honored at halftime of Saturday’s game with a statue. The statue will be placed in the area called Heisman Park around Gaylord Stadium, which honors other previous other Heisman Trophy winners from the school.

Oklahoma fans will get a glimpse of Jovantae Barnes
One of the best parts about spring games is they give fans an early look at some of their team’s bright, young stars. The Sooners were lucky enough to have landed one of the nation’s premiere running back talents in the 2022 recruiting class, Jovontae Barnes. According to the On3 Consensus Rankings, he was rated as a four-star prospect coming out of Desert Pines (Las Vegas, Nevada). Barnes was lured to Norman by another Las Vegas native and Oklahoma legend DeMarco Murray. Barnes played in the 2021 Under Armour All-American game and has impressed many people during the spring session. He could push for early playing time this fall, even though Eric Gray is ahead of him on the depth chart.
Blessed with a tremendous set of hands coming out of the backfield, it’s going to be exciting to watch Barnes develop the next few years at Oklahoma.
