Oklahoma running back Kalib Hicks plans to enter NCAA transfer portal
Oklahoma running back Kalib Hicks plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, he tells On3’s Hayes Fawcett. Hicks just wrapped up his second season with the Sooners but will have three years of eligibility at his next stop.
Just one regular season appearance as a true freshman meant Hicks took a redshirt in 2023. His three carries on the year came against Arkansas State in the season opener, going for 14 yards and a touchdown. Oklahoma got him in there against Arizona in the Alamo Bowl as well.
Hicks was able to get onto the field in five games this season but did not have the ball in his hands much once again. He recorded two carries, both of which took place in the blowout loss against South Carolina, for a total of 11 yards.
Folks in Norman thought Hicks might be capable of contributing a little more this season after a stellar spring game performance. Ten carries for 62 yards were good enough to lead the entire Sooners roster. Hicks had a 30-yard touchdown too, providing an explosive play — something Oklahoma struggled to create most this fall.
Hicks played high school football at Denton (TX) Ryan, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 480 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Georgia WR has abrupt change in plans
A few Oklahoma offensive players have announced their plans to leave the program already. Quarterback Jackson Arnold is the biggest name of the bunch. On3’s Pete Nakos recently shared three schools to watch in Arnold’s recruitment.
Wide receiver Nic Anderson, who dealt with injuries for most of the 2024 season, will go through the portal process as well. Hicks now becomes the latest skill position player on the move.
Changes to the offense are coming for the Sooners. Ben Arbuckle from Washington State has taken over as the offensive coordinator, replacing Seth Litrell and interim Joe Jon Finley. Head coach Brent Venables is hoping Arbuckle can bring better results and get OU back on the right track in 2025.
