Three Oklahoma softball players have entered the NCAA transfer portal on Monday. Savannah Geurin, Quincee Lilio and Avery Hodge will all move on to new programs for the 2025 season.

Hodge had the biggest role of any of the three players to appear in 63 games with 25 starts this past season, including four in the Women’s College World Series. She recorded 21 hits with a batting average of .284. The former No. 6 prospect in the 2022 class according to Extra Inning Softball, she also played 56 games as a freshman in 2023.

Hodge went a combined 4-for-9 in her plate appearances during the WCWS in helping lead the Sooners to their fourth straight national title. She tied her season high with two hits in a win against Florida to reach the finals.

Lilio, the No. 5 player in the 2022 class, played only 41 games this past season and finished with four hits. Geurin is a left-handed pitcher who appeared in nine games after redshirting the 2023 season. She threw 10 innings with a 0.70 ERA and a 2-0 record.

The departures create five open roster spots for Oklahoma softball to work with as it will likely bring in a few players from the transfer portal. The Sooners bring back eight players from their most recent championship run and also add eight freshmen.

Oklahoma-Texas becomes most-watches WCWS final

It was a historic night in Oklahoma City Thursday night as Oklahoma completed the first four-peat in NCAA softball history. The Sooners brought home their fourth consecutive Women’s College World Series title, defeating Texas 8-4 to complete the sweep.

It was also a huge night for ESPN, which drew record-breaking numbers for the final.

The two games in the championship series averaged 2 million viewers, ESPN announced – including an average of 2.2 million for Thursday’s matchup. It became the most-watched final on record, including a 3% increase from the previous record set in 2015 when Florida defeated Michigan.

Game 1 of the championship series brought in 1.9 million viewers, ESPN announced, and that set up Game 2 with history on the line for Oklahoma. The game went directly against the NBA Finals on ABC, which averaged just under 11 million, according to Sports Media Watch.

It was a rematch of the 2022 WCWS when Oklahoma defeated rival Texas for its second straight title. Now, the Sooners have gone where no other softball team has gone by winning four in a row.
