Oklahoma signee announces awesome NIL deal with children's charity
We’ve seen some cool name, image and likeness deals this year. An Oklahoma signee might have inked one of the best, though.
Nick Evers, an On3 four-star quarterback recruit, announced via Twitter that he signed a deal with Make-A-Wish. As part of the agreement, he’ll donate the all of the proceeds.
“I’m excited and privileged to announce my first NIL deal will benefit Make-A-Wish!” Evers wrote. “I’m passionate about the mission, which is why 100% of the proceeds I will help raise will go to kids with life threatening illnesses.”
Evers chose Oklahoma over Florida and multiple other programs. He’s the No. 8 quarterback recruit from the Class of 2022, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
He committed with Oklahoma last month. Now, he has an NIL deal to go with it.
Brent Venables on why Oklahoma targeted Nick Evers in 2022
Brent Venables waxed poetic regarding quarterback Nick Evers in his National Signing Day press conference. The four-star quarterback decided to lock-in his commitment to the Sooners, and it’s evident Venables believes Oklahoma got a special player.

“Obviously, leaned on [new offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby] for who is the guy, and why is he the guy,” Venables said. “It was important to me — making sure that we find the right kind of guy that had some maturity to him. Had a really good support system that’s going to help him navigate his journey. Some level-headedness — knowing that what you are as a freshman is going to look a lot different than what you are in three or four years. Just like when he was a freshman in high school and he’s thirteen or fourteen years old — it’s a lot different than when he left at eighteen.
“The natural maturation that’s going to take place. Whether it be knowledge, maturity, decision-making, physicality, skill — all those things are developed. So finding the right guy that fit there too. Not just a talented player that could come in and help us be a quality player at that position — I think looking for in totality, being the total package. Man, did he find one.”
Evidently, Venables is happy with the job Lebby did in courting Evers to Oklahoma. While Caleb Williams may be the unquestioned starter at the moment, Venables believes the Sooners have a bright future at the position.
