Oklahoma softball star Jocelyn Alo is already etched into college softball history, but she strengthened her legacy even more Saturday during a 7-2 victory against Texas in the Women’s College World Series. Alo got the scoring started by blasting a home run to left field in the top of the first inning to put the Sooners up 2-0.
The home run was the 30th this season, marking the third year she has reached that mark throughout her five-year career. According to ESPN, that makes her the only player in Division 1 softball history with at least 30 home runs in three different seasons.
Alo is already the all-time college softball home run leader with a career total of 118. Last season she tied a WCWS series record with four homers. Saturday marked the first time she has since one over the fence at this year’s event.
It wasn’t just Alo who had success with the long ball against the Longhorns, however. Tiare Jennings also hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning to increase the Sooner lead to 6-1. That happened to be Oklahoma’s highest-scoring inning, as it finished with four runs to take a commanding lead into the final stretch.

Jennings led the Sooners to finish 3-for-4 at the plate including two RBI. Alo was 2-for-3 on the day with three RBI. Hope Trautwein got the start at pitcher to earn the win, allowing six hits and striking out one across the whole game.
The victory was the second for Jocelyn Alo and Oklahoma in the Women’s College World Series, as the Sooners previously defeated Northwestern by a score of 13-2 on Saturday. OU is in search of its fourth WCWS title since 2016 after claiming last year’s championship.
The Sooners now get a day off before their next game set for noon ET on Monday.
