Oklahoma trending for 2025 5-star LB Jonah Williams
Oklahoma is trending for one of the top prospects in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).
Galveston (Texas) Ball five-star linebacker Jonah Williams has fielded offers from around 25 Power Five programs, many of whom are among the best in the nation. That includes the Sooners, who have gotten the 6-foot-3, 200-pounder to Norman for multiple visits.
On Saturday, Texas recruiting insider Justin Wells logged a pick in the On3 RPM in favor of Oklahoma landing the Lone Star State product. The Sooners now have a 91.8% edge to add an elite recruit to the mix in the 2025 cycle.
“They have been gaining every day. Calling me every day. Talking to my dad every day. Coach (Brandon) Hall, the safeties coach and I talk a lot. We made a promise that we would come up there on the 27th, so we are keeping that promise,” Williams said of OU to On3 last month. “Oklahoma is baseball and football as well. The coaching staff … they all hit me up. Make sure and talk to me. We have great conversations. They love my parents, and my parent love them. It’s just elevated our relationship.”
Williams is the No. 13 overall prospect and No. 2 LB in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 3 player in Texas.
“Williams has been to Norman on several occasions as an underclassman, including a flurry of visits last summer into the season,” On3’s Sam Spiegelmen wrote on Jan. 26. “Oregon, Texas, Texas A&M and Ohio State are all in the mix here, but I expect the Sooners to be in it until the end with Williams.

Sooners charging for top-10 recruiting class in 2025 cycle
Brent Venables and the Sooners have already done plenty of work in the 2025 class. As of Feb. 2, Oklahoma possesses commitments from nine prospects — five of whom are four-stars. The class currently ranks No. 11 in the nation, per the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
A pair of WRs currently sit atop the class. Oklahoma City (Okla.) Millwood four-star Jaden Nickens and Checotah (Okla.) four-star Elijah Thomas are the two highest-ranked recruits on the pledge list and are two of six in-state commits. Both are also top-130 overall prospects.
Midwest City (Okla.) Carl Albert four-star quarterback Kevin Sperry is a top-250 recruit and the No. 20 signal-caller in the cycle. He’s flanked by fellow four-stars Ennis (Texas) WR Gracen Harris and his Carl Albert teammate, athlete Trynae Washington.
