The Oklahoma Sooners will be getting a key contributor back on Saturday against Auburn. According to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, forward Ethan Chargois, one of Oklahoma’s top options off of the bench, will be making a return to the court on Saturday. He has not played since January 11.

“Oklahoma’s Ethan Chargois (ankle) will be dressed and available for today’s game against Auburn, per Porter Moser,” Rothstein tweeted.

Chargois has played in 16 games this season, coming off of Oklahoma’s bench in all of them. On the season, he is averaging 11.8 minutes, 4.6 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.4 blocks per game.

In his overall collegiate career, Chargois has started 86 of his 124 collegiate contests. As a whole, Chargois is averaging 8.9 points and 4.6 rebounds per game in his collegiate career.

Chargois returns at an important time for Oklahoma

Oklahoma began the year on a high note, starting 4-0. After falling to Utah State to drop to 4-1, the Sooners responded with three consecutive wins, improving to 7-1. Oklahoma then dropped an overtime contest against Butler, but again responded with an impressive winning streak, one that spanned four games and included a victory over Arkansas, who was ranked No. 12 at the time.

Entering a matchup against Baylor, the top ranked team in the country at the time, Oklahoma was 11-3. The Sooners kept it close, but Baylor won 84-74. Oklahoma bounced back with a win over Iowa State, but then lost four in a row, falling to 12-7 on the season. On Wednesday, Oklahoma beat West Virginia 72-62 to reach 13-7 on the year and 3-5 against Big 12 opponents.

Getting Chargois back is an important development for Oklahoma. The Sooners are going to need contributions from all-around if they want to hang with Auburn, the current best team in college basketball. Tip-off for Saturday’s contest is set for 2 p.m. ET on Auburn’s home court.
