Oklahoma WR Jalil Farooq plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Farooq shared those intentions with On3’s Hayes Fawcett on Tuesday.

This comes after Farooq had spent the past four seasons in Norman. However, after breaking his foot in the opener this fall, Farooq missed all but two games in his senior year with the Sooners.

During the three seasons, Farooq appeared in 34 games with 23 starts, including every game as a junior last year. In his collegiate career there, he has caught 89 passes overall for 1,287 yards and seven touchdowns. He had his career-highs in receptions and yardage as a junior with 45 catches for 694 yards, both of where were top-three on the offense, but had his career-best in receiving scores the year prior as a sophomore with five.

In his two games this season against Temple and Missouri, Farooq had three receptions for 58 yards. Most of that came from one catch against the Owls to start the year as it went for 47 yards.

Farooq, a native of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, played high school football at Dr. Henry Wise. He was the No. 125 overall recruit there as a four-star prospect in the 2021 cycle. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also rated as the No. 21 WR in the class and the No. 5 player out of the state.

With this news, Oklahoma will have lost another player to the portal, specifically on the offensive side of the football following a coordinator change for the second consecutive offseason from Seth Littrell to Ben Arbuckle. Of the 15 players who are officially entered already for the Sooners, a dozen are from their offense, including their starting quarterback in Jackson Arnold, their leading receiver in TE Bauer Sharp, three other wide receivers, namely Nic Anderson, and three running backs and offensive linemen apiece.
