On300 safety Azareyeh Thomas heading to Norman this weekend
Niceville (Fla.) High four-star safety Azareyeh Thomas is heading to Norman, Okla., this weekend to watch No. 4 Oklahoma live and visit the Sooners campus.
Thomas is one of the best safeties in the country, ranking as the No. 143 overall recruit in the country.
He has previously stated his top three is Florida, Georgia Tech, and LSU.
Azareyeh Thomas thought he was going to be committed by now
Azareyeh Thomas had said he planned on committing in August and then September, but a commitment has not come.
He originally released his top three in July.
Thomas talked with On3’s Jeremy Johnson last month about his process and said he hadn’t been focusing much his commitment at that time.
“I feel like all three schools could benefit me in some way,” Thomas said. “The relationship part will most likely be the end factor in where I go. Also, it’ll be about where I feel most comfortable. When you feel comfortable, you can be yourself and not put on a façade or anything like that.”
Azareyeh Thomas’ two older brothers, Juanyeh Thomas and Azende Rey Thomas, both play at Georgia Tech. Azende Rey Thomas is a graduate transfer wide receiver from Florida A&M. Juanyeh Thomas is in his third season as a starting safety for the Yellow Jackets and has one year of eligibility remaining.

Oklahoma has a strong 2022 recruiting class
The Sooners have been recruiting at an elite level for years, and that has not changed for the 2022 recruiting cycle.
The team has 15 commits — nine of which slot in the 2022 On300 rankings.
The headliner of the class is also the most recent commit of the group: Lakeland (Fla.) High five-star defensive lineman Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy.
Brownlow-Dindy committed to the Sooners yesterday, taking him one step closer to fulfilling a childhood dream of playing for Oklahoma.
“I grew up following Oklahoma, my whole family loves Oklahoma, so this is big for the family,” he told On3’s Chad Simmons.
Broken Arrow (Okla.) High four-star Robert Spears-Jennings is the only safety currently in the Sooners recruiting class. He is ranked as the No. 169 recruit in the On300.
