Oklahoma graduate student Kinzie Hansen jumpstarted Oklahoma’s run with a two-run shot to give the Sooners a 2-1 lead. Only two at-bats later, Alynah Torres followed suit, crushing a two-run homer over the centerfield fence to extend OU’s lead to 4-1.
In only three innings, Duke utilized two pitchers. In the interview, Gasso claimed her team prepared for the multitude of looks.
“We’ve been practicing with this a lot,” Gasso said. “We knew what was coming. They worked really hard with machines and with JT [Gasso]. I just felt they were prepared for anything [Duke] threw out there today.”
Oklahoma entered its showdown against Duke on a nine-game win streak. The Sooners have scored 32 runs over their five NCAA Tournament games thus far. Patty Gasso and Co. are currently on the hunt for their fourth-straight national title.
