Oklahoma was in need of a win on Saturday, with Kansas coming to Norman for the final time as a Big 12 opponent. Porter Moser saw a big opportunity in front of his team, looking for a staple win to boast on the Sooners’ NCAA Tournament resume. Despite having a lead, Oklahoma began to slip in the second half and ultimately fell short, 67-57.

As Kansas was making its run to close out the game, the visiting fans became quite vocal. Despite being at the Lloyd Noble Center, you could hear Jayhawks throughout the entire arena. Moser was asked what he thought of the opposing crowd making some noise, saying he was more focused on the loss.

“It is what it is,” Moser said on Saturday. “I wasn’t hearing it, to be honest with you. I was disappointed we lost an opportunity. We had an opportunity tonight. We’re thinking about losing that opportunity, what I got to do to get us better. That’s what I was thinking about.”

Kansas having fans on the road is nothing new. One of the biggest brands in college basketball means they are always going to travel well, no matter where they play. Oklahoma may be one of the easier destinations considering how close the two schools are to one another.

Even so, Moser has worked toward building up a great crowd for the Sooners. He thanked them for the support on Saturday but diving back into the game. At least in the moment, hearing the Kansas fans was not at the top of his priority list.

“I thought our crowd was great,” Moser said. “I think they showed out again. We had a very poor second half. So, we’ll get better. But I wasn’t even thinking about that. Thinking about what we need to do better. Disappointed we lost this opportunity.”

The next home game for Oklahoma is not until March 2. Two consecutive road games fall on the schedule, with Oklahoma State and Iowa State hosting the Sooners. Getting back on the right track following two consecutive losses will be the main focus.

And then there will be another huge opportunity for Moser, hosting Houston. Another one of the Big 12 elite programs, the Cougars will present the chance for Oklahoma to get a marquee victory. Moser will be hoping to home crowd can play a factor and help propel the team with an incredible atmosphere.
