Porter Moser talks importance of 'great turnout' from Oklahoma fans vs. Kentucky

Oklahoma coach Porter Moser loves the home crowd, especially when the Sooners need a little juice from the fans.
The fans brought it in a win over Mississippi State on Saturday, but Moser wants that same energy, if not more, Wednesday night. No. 17 Kentucky comes to Norman.
Of course, credit to the Oklahoma players, as Moser said. But there’s nothing like a packed house in the Lloyd Noble Center.
“That’s what I was saying, though, is that these guys played their tails off,” Moser said on Sirius XM. “We scored 93 points against one of the top defenses in Mississippi State. We had 18 assists, like, you moved the ball, it was exciting. I mean, we got some really athletic guys. And, you know, we know where we go on the road, you know, our bus pulls up and it’s, you know, down the street, camping out two hours for the game, like waiting to get in. And it means a lot. It means a lot.”
Moser definitely makes an effort to see the student body when he’s not coaching. He makes the rounds around the Oklahoma social scene.

“The people that go to the games, like the students, you know, I’ve had a great connection to students, I go speak at all the fraternities and sororities,” Moser said. “You know, the top 10 all time student attendance records has been in the last four years during my tenure. But it makes such a difference of adrenaline, especially when it’s going back and forth, the other team is making a run, and that’s when it helps.”
As far as Oklahoma beating Kentucky, the Sooners could certainly do it. But as he alluded to, a great turnout certainly helps.
“But I’m excited for our guys, you know, I think Kentucky’s is one of the best teams in the country, and I’ve watched them the way they run offense,” Moser said.
“I coached against Mark last year at BYU, and they ran just phenomenal offense, and they got bigs, Amari Williams, you know, just one of the best passing bigs. But, you know, Wednesday, I hope people come out. It makes such a huge difference. It makes a difference for the guys, they’re young guys, man. The atmosphere is awesome … We’re excited, we’re looking for a great turnout, but our guys are going to be ready regardless.”
