Southern Illinois transfer and former Wisconsin wide receiver Keontez Lewis committed to the Oklahoma Sooners on Wednesday evening, according to his Twitter page. In 2023, Lewis played in one game, making one catch for 12 yards for the Badgers. He decided to hit the transfer portal after Wisconsin lost to Washington State (09/09/2023). Following the 2023 season, he transferred to the Southern Illinois Salukis.

In 2022, Lewis played in all 13 games, ranking third on Wisconsin with 20 catches, 313 receiving yards and three touchdowns. In 2021, he saw action in 11 games for the Badgers, with one start against Utah.

Lewis played his high school football with East Saint Louis (East St. Louis, Illinois), where he hauled in 32 catches for 802 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2019. He also posted five catches for 105 yards and one touchdown in 2019 (IHSA Class 5A championship game over Prairie Ridge High School). The Flyers finished 14-0.

The Oklahoma Sooners have made quite a splash in the portal

Oklahoma will face off against Navy in the Armed Forces Bowl. That one will be played on December 27th, 2024, and kickoff is slated for 12:00 PM. Oklahoma has made quite the splash this offseason, landing two different coaches from Washington State, plus their quarterback, John Mateer. Mateer was one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks in all of college football this year, rushing for over 800 yards for the Cougars.

Not only did the Sooners land Mateer, but they landed his offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from Washington State, Ben Arbuckle (their offensive coordinator) and John Kuceyeski (their QB coach). It will certainly be interesting to see if the trio can turn things around next season in Norman.
