Voice of Sooners announces Oklahoma guard Javian McCollum is out vs. TCU
Oklahoma will be without a second key player today against TCU in the Big 12 Tournament, with guard Javian McCollum out of the lineup.
The Voice of the Sooners, Toby Rowland, revealed the news on the pre-game radio program, according to Colton Sulley of The Oklahoman. McCollum reportedly re-aggravated the shoulder injury he suffered in practice last week.
McCollum is the team’s leading scorer, averaging 13.3 points per contest while also chipping in 3.4 assists and 2.6 rebounds per game. He will be sorely missed, and he’s not the only one out for today’s game.
In addition to Javian McCollum, Oklahoma will be without Rivaldo Soares and John Hugley, who were both ruled out for the contest on Tuesday.
Soares is a talented guard who averages 9.4 points and 4.9 rebounds per contest, while Hugley is a forward currently averaging 8.4 points and 3.8 rebounds per contest. So the Sooners will have plenty of production to replace today.

Oklahoma currently boasts a 20-11 overall record and an 8-10 mark in Big 12 play, leaving it in a precarious position when it comes to the NCAA Tournament.
Most prognosticators, including On3’s own James Fletcher III, have the Sooners narrowly in the field. Fletcher currently has Oklahoma as the first among the “Last Four Byes” category, and a win or two in the Big 12 Tournament would likely go a long way toward cementing a berth in the Big Dance.
That obviously will be quite a bit more difficult today without the likes of Javian McCollum, Rivaldo Soares and John Hugley.
Oklahoma has struggled down the stretch, in part due to injuries, winning just two of its last seven games. The Sooners dropped the previous contest this year against the Horned Frogs, falling 80-71 on the road back in mid-January.
Today’s game against TCU begins at 3:15 p.m. ET, with a broadcast on ESPN+.
