WATCH: Oklahoma 5-star QB commit Jackson Arnold rushes for 64-yard touchdown
Denton (Texas) Guyer five-star quarterback Jackson Arnold is having a strong start to his senior campaign. After throwing a 63-yard touchdown, Arnold rushed for a 64-yard score later in the game to give his squad a 40-14 lead over Rockwall (Texas) Rockwell-Heath.
After faking a handoff, Arnold took a read option to his right. He then split through the defensive front and raced untouched to the end zone.
It was his second big play of the contest. On the third play of the season opener, the Oklahoma commit connected with wide receiver Landon Sides for a 63-yard touchdown.
After shifting right in the pocket, Arnold released a high-arcing throw downfield. Sides was on a few steps ahead of his defender and reeled in the catch in stride before racing into the end zone.
Arnold added another touchdown to 2024 four-star cornerback Eli Bowen to give Guyer a 46-14 lead. A 6-foot-1, 198 pound signal-caller, Arnold is the No. 17 overall prospect and No. 5 quarterback in the 2023 On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 3 player in Texas.

Arnold is the highest-ranked recruit in the Sooners’ 2023 recruiting class, which ranks No. 7 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 2 in the Big 12. Oklahoma’s group contains five top-100 prospects, including Arnold.
The five-star recruit received high praise from On3’s Sam Spiegelman earlier this summer. He received “The gamer” summer superlative from Spiegelman.
“Oklahoma commitment Jackson Arnold was the Elite 11 MVP and a top performer everywhere he’s been this summer as well,” Spiegelman wrote. “The Dallas standout is a fantastic decision-maker and has a resume of coming through in big-time situations. During these camp settings, Arnold has been able to showcase his ability to make different throws at various angles and balance some tight-window throws with deep shots downfield well. His skill-set and eye for the field fit seamlessly with Jeff Lebby’s offense.”
Jackson Arnold On3 Scouting Summary
The following is the On3 Scouting Summary for Jackson Arnold:
“Tough, live-armed quarterback who quickly rose to be the top 2023 signal caller in Texas in his first year as a starter. Plays for one of the top high school programs in the Dallas Metroplex and led his team to the state title game as a junior. Plays in a spread-iso offensive scheme that heavily utilizes play action downfield passes and power running between the tackles. Shows a strong arm with the ability to generate velocity on intermediate and downfield throws.
“A light-footed athlete who consistently escapes pressure and makes plays out of the pocket. One of the tougher top quarterbacks in the 2023 cycle, carrying a considerable rushing load. A physical runner who embraces contact. Hit the ground running in his first year as a varsity starter against top competition. Has a smaller frame than some other top quarterbacks in the cycle.”
Arnold has an On3 NIL Valuation of $578K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
