Following an Oklahoma football victory against Nebraska on Saturday, former Sooners basketball star Trae Young reacted to a remix of the famous Malcolm Kelly freestyle posted to Twitter. Young was one of several former Sooners seen rapping along with Kelly in the video.

The No. 3 Sooners defeated Nebraska 23-16 in the first matchup between the teams in 11 years Saturday.

Kelly, then a receiver at OU, broke out into a freestyle in the locker room following Oklahoma’s Big 12 championship victory against the Huskers in 2006. The moment lives on in Sooners history as one of the best postgame celebrations of all-time.

In one line that is incredibly relevant after Saturday, Kelly says “Nebraska Cornhuskers, man, we diminish.”

The Sooners defense was incredible, holding the Huskers to just 95 yards on the ground. Cornerback D.J. Graham came away with what could possibly be the interception of the season, a one-handed grab destined to make highlight reels.

Heisman hopeful quarterback Spencer Rattler looked solid, going 23-of-34 passing for 214 yards and a touchdown. Oklahoma took excellent care of the ball and did not commit any turnovers in the game.

The backfield duo of Eric Gray and Kennedy Brooks combined for 159 yards rushing and one touchdown on 29 carries.

Young, who led the Atlanta Hawks to the Eastern Conference Finals this past season, spent one year at Oklahoma. A Norman native, he helped lead them to an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2018 and was a consensus All-American.

The Sooners are on a quest to get back to the College Football Playoff after missing in 2020. Oklahoma is tied with Ohio State for the third-most Playoff appearances of any school with four. Despite this, they have never made it to the title game.

The Sooners open Big 12 play at home against West Virginia next week before hitting the road to face Kansas State. If they ever feel they need motivation this season, they can simply look back at the Malcolm Kelly remix that features Trae Young and many others.
