Recap of Oklahoma State’s 2022 season, lookahead to 2023

Oklahoma State got off to a strong start in 2022 before falling apart over the second half of the season. The Cowboys began the year 6-1 and rose as high as No. 7 in the AP poll before going 1-5 over its final six games.

With quarterback Spencer Sanders playing through an injury, the OSU offense failed to score more than 20 points in any of those contests. Sanders transferred to Ole Miss this offseason after throwing for 2,642 yards, 17 touchdowns and nine interceptions, leaving the Cowboys in search of a new starting quarterback.

Sanders wasn’t the only OSU player to leave, however. Receivers John Paul Richardson, Bryson Green and Braylin Pressley all left as well, along with running back Dominic Richardson.

The Cowboys brought in Michigan quarterback Alan Bowman to replace Sanders, as well as Iowa receiver Arland Bruce and Michigan State running back Elijah Collins. Coach Mike Gundy will hope those transfer and more pan out as he tried to replace a large chunk of production and bounce back from a disappointing season.
