Jax Forrest announces commitment to Oklahoma State wrestling
Jax Forrest, the No. 2 overall recruit in the Class of 2026, announced his commitment to Oklahoma State on FloWrestling. Forrest is the teammate of No. 1 prospect Bo Bassett.
Forrest’s recruiting was a little more under the radar compared to Bassett. He revealed his Top 10 schools back in September: Penn State, Lehigh, NC State, North Carolina, Ohio State, Michigan, Iowa, Iowa State, Nebraska and Oklahoma State.
Eventually, he cut it down to four following his teammate’s decision: Penn State, Iowa, Oklahoma State and Ohio State.
But now, his decision is in and Forrest is ready to be a game changer at the collegiate level and the latest big recruit reeled in by head coach David Taylor. Oklahoma State recently reeled in No. 3 pound for pound prospect Dreshaun Ross.
He’s a 2022 U17 World Silver Medalist and was a 2024 Pennsylvania State champion.
Forrest could be a program changer like Bassett as he showcased his tremendous wrestling ability at the Senior World Team Trials. Just a junior in high school, Forrest stood out by taking 3rd/4th at the tournament at 61 KG.
“3rd(4th) at 61kg Senior World Team Trials is not what I wanted but it was Gods plan for me,” Forrest wrote. “I’m not where I want to be yet, but i’m closer than I was yesterday.”

Jax Forrest announces commitment, top prospects off board
Bassett officially announced his commitment following his team, Bishop McCort’s, dual on February 4th. He was the biggest recruit from a loaded high school team that included Forrest.
Bassett’s official visits were watched with close eyes he is seen as a program changer, along with younger brothers Keegan Bassett (2028) and Melvin Miller (2027). All of them wrestle for Bishop McCort (Pa.), which is considered one of the top high school wrestling teams in the country this year.
“And again … it would be wrong not to mention my two brothers as well that are going to be high level recruits the next two years, so I’m thinking about all those type of things,” Bassett said. “And I think the thing I learned most again was how hard (this was but) this process is awesome.”
Now the wait is on for when these two, and others, finally take the mats at the Division 1 level and compete for NCAA titles.
