3-star safety Landyn Cleveland commits to Oklahoma State Cowboys
Mansfield (Texas) Mansfield Legacy three-star safety Landyn Cleveland announced his commitment to Oklahoma State on Sunday. He chose the Cowboys after taking an official visit to Stillwater this weekend.
Cleveland is the No. 526 overall prospect and No. 53 safety in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 90 player in Texas.
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound defensive back is now the highest-rated player in Oklahoma State’s 2024 recruiting class. It contains seven recruits and ranks No. 28 in the 2024 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings, as well as No. 2 in the Big 12.
Head coach Mike Gundy and his staff have landed three pledges in the last eight days. They are Cleveland, Texarkana (Texas) Pleasant Grove three-star interior offensive lineman Caleb Hackleman and Texarkana (Texas) Pleasant Grove three-star athlete Jaylen Boardley.
Oklahoma State’s class also includes Longview (Texas) three-star cornerback Willie Nelson, Choctaw (Okla.) three-star EDGE Will Smith, Oklahoma City (Okla.) Southeast three-star running back Rodney Fields and Stillwater (Okla.) three-star tight end Josh Ford.
In addition to Oklahoma State, Cleveland had previously scheduled one more official visit. It is to Texas on the weekend of June 24.
Oklahoma State landed a top-60 class last cycle
Last cycle, Oklahoma State notched 20 high school recruits. The Cowboys’ 2023 recruiting class finished No. 57 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 11 in the Big 12.

Oklahoma State’s highest-ranked commit was Gretna (Neb.) three-star quarterback Zane Flores. He was the No. 460 overall prospect and No. 27 quarterback in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He was also the No. 2 player in Nebraska.
On3 ranked Flores higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Per the 2023 On300, he was the No. 24 quarterback in the country.
In addition to Flores, Oklahoma State notched pledges from six other players ranked in the top-1,000 of the On3 Industry Ranking. They included Houston (Texas) Furr three-star wide receiver Camron Heard, Oak Grove (La.) three-star linebacker Kam Franklin, Oklahoma City (Okla.) Del City three-star defensive lineman Jaedon Foreman, Wolfforth (Texas) Frenship three-star interior offensive lineman Isaiah Kema, Aubrey (Texas) Braswell three-star cornerback Dylan Smith and Tucson (Ariz.) Salpointe Catholic three-star interior offensive lineman Jack Endean.
The Cowboys also landed two players at Cleveland’s position: Smyrna (Ga.) Campbell three-star safety Tywon Wray and Fort Smith (Ark.) Northside three-star safety RJ Lester.
