Nolan Schubart hits home runs in his first two plate appearances vs. Florida
Nolan Schubart is wasting no time getting things going in Saturday’s NCAA Baseball Tournament Regional matchup against Florida. The Oklahoma State slugger has hit home runs in his first two plate appearances thus far as the Cowboys jumped out to an early 4-0 lead.
Schubart’s first homer came in the first inning as he blasted a solo shot to put the Cowboys on the scoreboard. His teammate Zach Ehrhard followed with a solo home run of his on in the next at bat as OSU ended the opening frame up 2-0.
The Cowboys went scoreless in the second inning before Carson Benge connected for another home run in the top of the third. Schubart then followed him up with another solo shot to increase the advantage to 4-0 early. You can view both of Schubart’s home runs below.

Oklahoma State would go on to win the game by a score of 7-1 behind five home runs as a team. Aidan Meola joined the party in the seventh inning with a two-run shot to left field.
As for Schubart, the two hits would mark his 22nd and 23rd home runs of the season. He previously set the Cowboys’ single-season home run record with four long balls in an April 30 matchup against Wichita State.

On the season, Schubart leads the Cowboys with a .366 batting average and 23 home runs. He also leds all OSU players with 68 RBI.
As a team, Oklahoma State ranks 12th in the country with a 4.12 ERA. Brian Holiday got the start at pitcher and struck out 10 batters while allowing only two hits in a full nine innings of play.
The Cowboys finished Saturday’s contest with 11 total hits. In addition to Schubart, three other players hit home runs. Floriday struggled mightily and played four pitchers on the day. Jac Caglianone got the start and allowed seven hits and four home runs across five innings.
OSU will now move on to face the winner between Florida and Nebraska, who are set to face off at 2 p.m. on Sunday. The winner will then face the Cowboys at 7 p.m. CT, and the if necessary game is scheduled for Monday.
