Oklahoma State football fans are pumped about the 2024 campaign and who can blame them. They return one of the nation’s most explosive offensive attacks, spearheaded by Heisman Trophy candidate, Ollie Gordon II. They also return wideouts like Brennan Presley, one of the best players at his position in the Big 12. He’s hauled in over 800 receiving yards the past two seasons, and he reeled in 101 catches in 2023.

One game that Oklahoma State fans clearly have circled and starred on the calendar this fall is their matchup with the Arkansas Razorbacks on September 7th. On Thursday evening, the Cowboys announced on their Twitter page that their Week 2 matchup with the Hogs in Stillwater is sold out.

Arkansas will feature many new faces on their team this fall. Dynamic dual-threat quarterback KJ Jefferson departed for UCF in the offseason, where he hopes to thrive in Gus Malzahn’s offensive scheme. He was one of the all-time greats in Razorbacks history, but it’s time for the Hogs to turn the page.

Boise State transfer quarterback Taylen Green will be the man the Oklahoma State defense will have to keep their eyes on. He’s a pretty good runner. He had 436 rushing yards and nine touchdowns for the Broncos in 2023. As a passer, he completed 57.1% of his throws for 1,752 yards, while tossing in 11 touchdowns with nine interceptions.

Green did most of his damage in the first half of the 2023 season, but really came on late down the stretch. He played a critical role in guiding the Broncos to a 2023 Mountain West Championship, racking up over 300 all-purpose yards and four total touchdowns, while tossing in just one interception.

In the backfield, Arkansas will feature Utah transfer running back Ja’Quinden Jackson. Last season for the Utes, he ran for 797 yards and four touchdowns on 161 carries. Both Green and Jackson will be operating behind an offensive line unit that has a trio of transfers coming in to bolster it. Last year, the Razorbacks’ offensive line allowed the most sacks and tackles for loss in the SEC. Improving that unit will be critical to the team’s success.

Sam Pittman and company will be looking to get back to the same identity that led to so much success in 2021 and 2022. The Hogs ran for nearly 3,100 yards and 27 touchdowns in 2022. The offensive line will have to improve in order for the team to reach their potential in 2024.
