WATCH: Oklahoma State baseball notches second straight no-hitter
Recording one no-hitter is impressive enough, but doing so in back-to-back games is even more rare. That’s exactly what Oklahoma State pulled off Saturday, however, in a 1-0 victory in the first game of a doubleheader against Loyola Marymount.
Three different pitchers — Juaron Watts-Brown, Evan O’Toole and Nolan McLean — combined to help the Cowboys achieve the no-hitter, throwing nine strikeouts. McLean pitched the final inning to record the save, and right fielder Carson Benge caught the final out of the game. You can view the moment below.
The no-hitter for Oklahoma State came after the Cowboys also held California Baptist without a hit in a 2-0 victory on Tuesday. Five different pitchers played in that game, with McLean again closing out the game to record the save. O’Toole earned the win in both games, improving his season record to 2-0.
The two no-hitters also happened to come in OSU’s first two home games of the season, as they are now 3-2 on the young season.

It was a great defensive performance from both teams on Saturday as the score was still knotted at 0 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning. That’s when Nolan Schubart blasted a solo home run to left center field for the only score of the game. That was one of just five hits for the Cowboys on the afternoon, as Aidan Meola led the team with two.
Coming off of a 42-22 record a season ago, Oklahoma State began this season as the No. 8 team in the country. However, losses to Vanderbilt and Arkansas last week dropped them to No. 15. But with these two bounce-back performances under their belt, they’ll look to keep rolling going forward.
The second game of Saturday’s doubleheader between the Cowboys and Loyola Marymount began at 4 p.m. CT. OSU will have a chance to clinch the series win before the third and final game at 1 p.m. Sunday.
