Oklahoma State had a couple of important players go down in Saturday’s win over West Virginia.

Starting offensive lineman Jason Brooks Jr. and reserve receiver Talyn Shettron both left the game with an injury.

Cowboys head coach Mike Gundy provided an update on the two during his press conference on Monday.

“I’m hoping that they’ll be back later in the week. I mean it’s really hard for me to tell who’s going to be able to come back. I’m hoping that all of them will,” Gundy said.

Brooks joined the Oklahoma State program prior to the 2022 season. In addition to starting for the Cowboys this year, he also appeared in 11 games, with four starts, last year.

Shettron has three catches for 42 yards on the season. The redshirt freshman signed with Oklahoma State as a four-star recruit and the No. 103 overall player in the country in the class of 2022, according to the On3 Industry Rankings.

According to Gundy, it seems more likely that Shettron suits up this weekend than it does that Brooks will be able to play.

“Brooks is the one guy that looks further off in my opinion,” Gundy said. “But he hasn’t been back over here today and take the boot off and do all of the examination.”

Oklahoma State running back Ollie Gordon gets shoutout from David Pollack

Oklahoma State has found a way to turn its season around after getting off to a slow start. Running back Ollie Gordon has been a big part of that.

Gordon rushed for 282 yards and four touchdowns over the weekend at West Virginia as the Cowboys won their third straight game. After the performance, David Pollack named Gordon one of his top five “dudes” for Week 8. The sophomore actually came in at No. 1 for his performance against the Mountaineers.

Gordon was playing only a part time role early on this season, but he has emerged as one of the top running backs in the country.

He has topped the 100-yard mark in four straight games, including his monster performance against West Virginia.

Over the past four games, Gordon has 97 carries for 707 yards and six touchdowns. He is averaging 7.3 yards per carry during this incredible stretch. Gordon and Oklahoma State will look to add to their winning streak on Saturday against Cincinnati. A victory would give the Cowboys four straight wins and make them bowl eligible.
