Oklahoma State lands veteran guard transfer John Michael Wright from Big South Conference
After putting together a strong three seasons at High Point, point guard John Michael Wright has announced that he’s transferring to Oklahoma State and will suit up for the Cowboys in 2022-2023. He posted the news to his Twitter account on Monday.
“I am committing to Oklahoma State University to continue my collegiate career under coach Mike Boynton! Go Pokes,” Wright wrote in his announcement.
Wright, a Class of 2019 prospect out of Fayetteville, North Carolina, dominated for High Point last season – averaging 18.4 points, 3.4 assists and 1.0 steals per game while playing 34.9 minutes each outing. Wright leaves HPU currently ranked fourth on the program’s career points list with 1,498.
Coming out of Fayetteville Academy, Wright chose High Point over offers from Hampton, Arkansas State, Marshall and Maryland-Baltimore County. He was twice named First Team All-Big South and was the 2019-2020 Big South Freshman of the Year.
