LOOK: Oklahoma State student newspaper takes shot at Spencer Sanders, Ole Miss with page ahead of basketball game
With Ole Miss basketball coming to Stillwater on Saturday night, the Oklahoma State student newspaper, The O’Colly, came through with some quality troll material. The newspaper devoted a full page from its Friday edition to serve as a poster for students to hold up during Saturday’s game against the Rebels, using former Cowboys quarterback Spencer Sanders.
Sanders transferred to Ole Miss this offseason after spending the past four years as OSU’s starter, leaving many fans with mixed feelings on the situation. The O’Colly’s message served as both a shot at Sanders and the Rebels, with an image showing the quarterback photoshopped inside a leftovers box alongside the caption “Enjoy the Leftovers.”
Regardless of the jab, Sanders provided many fond memories for Cowboys fans during his time in Stillwater. That included a Fiesta Bowl win in the 2021 season, and winning Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year in 2019.
Sanders leaves at No. 2 on the program’s all-time list with 30 career victories. He threw for 9,533 yards, 67 touchdowns and 40 interceptions over those four seasons, as well as rushing for 1,956 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Sanders comes to Ole Miss as the No. 4 quarterback according to On3’s Transfer Portal Rankings. He will join quarterback room and compete with Jaxson Dart, who threw for 2,974 yards, 20 touchdowns and 11 interceptions as the Rebels’ starter last season.
Saturday’s matchup between the Rebels and Cowboys is a part of the annual SEC/Big 12 Challenge. The Big 12 needs just one more victory to win the challenge, as it held a 5-3 advantage entering the game.
OSU enters the game hoping to bounce back from an 89-75 loss to No. 10 Texas earlier this week. Tip-off between Oklahoma State and Ole Miss is set for 7 p.m. CT at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
