Oklahoma transfer RB Kalib Hicks commits to Oklahoma State
Former Oklahoma running back Kalib Hicks has committed to Oklahoma State, via the NCAA Transfer Portal. Hicks spent two seasons with the Sooners.
Hicks made five appearances at Oklahoma this season, recording two carries for 11 total yards. He played in two games during his true freshman season in 2023, collecting three rushing attempts for 14 yards and a touchdown. He will have three years of eligibility remaining.
Kalib Hicks played high school football at Ryan (TX), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 480 overall recruit and No. 32 running back in the 2023 recruiting cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Hicks is the third player who has committed to Oklahoma State during this transfer cycle. He is joined by Kasen Carpenter (Tulsa) and Bryan McCoy (Akron). Ten Oklahoma State players have entered the transfer portal thus far.
It was a grueling season for Oklahoma State, which finished 3-9. For reference, Oklahoma State was picked to finish third in the conference by the media in the preseason poll. Alas, the Cowboys were unable to find the success they were looking for.

Consequently, head coach Mike Gundy’s future with the program was in question. Nonetheless, on Dec. 7, The Action Network’s Brett McMurphy reported Gundy is set to return as the program’s head coach next season.
ESPN’s Pete Thamel initially reported if Gundy didn’t agree to a restructured deal, the Cowboys could fire him for cause. He would be owed more than $25 million if he was fired without cause.
On3’s Pete Nakos also reported Oklahoma State planned to cut Gundy’s base salary and re-allocate those funds to going all-in on NIL, should he agree. If Gundy didn’t, the school would terminate his contract. Evidently, the two parties reached some form of an agreement.
