Oklahoma State star running back Ollie Gordon has released a statement after he was arrested on June 30 on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol said Gordon was pulled over on Interstate 35 for allegedly traveling 82 MPH in a 65 MPH zone.

With probable cause, Gordon’s car was searched, and the trooper allegedly spotted a half-full bottle of vodka and a half-full bottle of tequila, per the report. When Gordon was tested, he reportedly had a blood alcohol content level of .11 and .10.

Here is what Ollie Gordon had to say about the arrest:

“I am deeply sorry for the actions that led to my arrest on June 30th. I sincerely apologize to my family, everyone in our program, including our players, Coach Gundy, the staff, Oklahoma State University, and our fans,” Gordon said in a statement.

“Regardless of the outcome of this pending investigation, I did not uphold the values I have for myself and the values of the OSU football program. I am committed to learning and growing from this mistake and I will work to earn back the trust of those who I have disappointed. Thank you.”

Gordon rushed for 1,732 yards and 21 touchdowns last season. Those were the most and second-most respectively in those statistics in the nation. That averages out to 6.1 yards per carry and 123.7 per game.

Ollie Gordon arrested ahead of pivotal college season

ESPN’s Greg McElroy rated Gordon as the top running back in college football this year during a recent ranking on Always College Football. That’s due to the history that he could make with similar production for the ‘Pokes like the season prior.

“He’s going to try to join Jonathan TaylorDarren McFadden, and Ricky Williams as the only running backs to ever win the Doak Walker Award twice,” McElroy said. “He was the obvious choice last year when looking at what he accomplished. He led the nation last year with over 1,700 rushing yards. Second in rushing touchdowns with 21 and second in yards after contact.”
