Former Temple defensive lineman Demerick Morris has committed to Oklahoma State out of the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned.

He was a product of the 2020 recruiting class. Morris redshirted his true freshman season, before making the first career start at defensive tackle against USF the next season. He became a regular member of the Owls deep defensive line rotation after that, playing in all 12 games as a sophomore before being forced to medical redshirt in 2023.

When he came back as a senior in 2024, he was given the distinction of wearing a jersey number in the single digits — something that is traditionally given to Temple team leaders. He served as a team captain throughout the season and maintained his position as the starting nose guard.

He entered into the NCAA transfer portal on Dec. 4.

The portal officially opened on Monday, Dec. 9, 2024. More than 2,800 FBS scholarship players entered their names into the NCAA’s transfer database during the 2023-24 school year. Removing those who withdrew or went pro, the final total sat at 2,707 transfers.

That means roughly 25 percent of all FBS scholarship players hit free agency in one year, per On3’s Pete Nakos.

LSU CB transfer JK Johnson signs with Oklahoma State

Former LSU cornerback JK Johnson will transfer to play for Oklahoma State this upcoming season, On3’s Pete Nakos reported. Johnson played the past two seasons with the Tigers after beginning his career at Ohio State and will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Johnson suffered an injury before his first year at LSU and sat out the entire 2023 season to take a medical redshirt. He returned this year to play in 10 games, finishing with three total tackles.
