Alabama transfer defensive back Trey Amos is set to visit Ole Miss, according to OMSpirit’s Zach Berry.

Amos spent three seasons at Louisiana before transferring to Alabama for the 2023 season. During his lone season in Tuscaloosa, he compiled 12 tackles and five pass breakups while appearing in 10 games for the Crimson Tide this past season.

Overall, he finished his fourth season of college football with 72 total tackles, 18 PBUs and one interception, which came during his true freshman season with the Ragin’ Cajuns.

Before college, Amos played high school football at Catholic (LA) High School, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 1,572 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services.

His portal entry was not particularly surprising, given the fact that former head coach Nick Saban has retired and new headman Kalen DeBoer has brought in the majority of a brand new staff to Tuscaloosa, not to mention Saban’s ties with the defensive backs.

Whether he chooses to spend the 2024 season in Oxford, he will have one year of college football eligibility remaining.

Still, if Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin could land Amos’ services, he would join former Texas A&M DL Walter Nolan, former South Carolina wide receiver Juice Wells and former Florida EDGE Princely Umanmeilen, among others, as fellow collegiate athletes coming in with a healthy helping of SEC experience under their belts.

Under Kiffin’s guide, Ole Miss ranks No. 3 in the current On3 College Football Team Transfer Portal Rankings, falling in just behind Louisville and Colorado, respectively. 14 players have transferred into the program while the Rebels have lost 17 to boot, including star running back Quinshon Judkins, who has since transferred to Ohio State.

According to On3, Ole Miss’ adjusted NIL value, while compiles the NIL Valuations of every athlete on the roster, adds $1.6 million in value to their program. Their total NIL value sits at $7.1 million based on their current transfer portal class, the players that are returning and the incoming recruits from the high school ranks.

Ole Miss will kick of its 2024 college football regular season on Aug. 31 against Furman before opening SEC play in Oxford against Kentucky one month later on Sept. 28 before heading to South Carolina for the Rebels’ first road trip to Columbia since 2009.
