Butler’s Augusto Cassia entered the portal over a month ago with interest and visits since then as a top power forward transferring this offseason. He has now made a choice of one of those programs he went and saw earlier in the process.

Cassia has committed to Ole Miss in the NCAA Transfer Portal. He made that announcement with a post on social media on Monday. That comes after taking a visit to Oxford earlier to start this month.

“Hotty Toddy! #888” Cassia captioned the post with him coming to The ‘Sip.

Cassia just finished his second collegiate season with Butler. He appeared in 25 games, eight of those being starts, and averaged 2.4 points (52.6% FG) and 1.8 rebounds per game for the Bulldogs. He improved those up to 5.1 points (66.7% FG) and 3.1 boards a game on average in 10 appearances, including all of his start, as a sophomore. Injuries delayed and eventually ended his career there though with a muscle strain keeping him out to start as a freshman before a ligament injury in his knee kept him out to finish as he left the program back in February.

Cassia, a Brazilian native, attended the NBA Global Academy in Australia and in Mexico. He was rated by On3 as a four-star who was a Top-150 prospect and a Top-30 PF in the class in 2023.

Now, per the latest update to On3’s Industry Ranking of 2025’s Top Transfer Portal Players, Cassia was among the better four-men still in the portal. He was just inside the Top-450 overall and is just inside the Top-100 at his position as the No. 96 PF.

With that, Cassia is the fourth addition, and is the lowest-rated of the four, in the transfer portal so far this offseason for Ole Miss. The Rebels have also picked up commitments from AJ Storr (Kansas), Corey Chest (LSU), and Koren Johnson (Louisville) earlier in April. That’s after they’ve lost four by way of transfer in John Bol (UCF), TJ Caldwell, Robert Cowherd, and Ja’Von Benson as well as seven who are out of college eligibility from last year’s roster under Chris Beard, which went on to make the Sweet 16 for the first time since the turn of the century.
