Corey Dennis, Urban Meyer's son-in-law, leaves Ole Miss for on-field coaching role with Tulsa
Corey Dennis, Urban Meyer’s son-in-law, left Ole Miss for the quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator position at Tulsa.
“Join us in welcoming Coach Dennis to our team!,” a release from Tulsa read. “Dennis will take on the role of quarterback coach and passing game coordinator!”
Dennis was set to join Ole Miss as an analyst, late last month. However, that has now changed.
Dennis left Ohio State this offseason to go to Ole Miss but will return to the field with Tulsa. he previously served as the QB coach for the Buckeyes.
“Corey is a talented young coach and someone I’ve worked closely alongside for three seasons,” Ohio State head coach Ryan Day said. “He knows our system and he knows how we teach. I think he is going to allow us to develop some continuity in the quarterback room, and that’s important.”
Chip Kelly, who left UCLA as the team’s head coach, became the new Ohio State OC and will coach the quarterbacks.
Dennis’ move is likely made due to the ability to get back on the field and work directly with a position group.
Dennis began his coaching career at Ohio State in 2015 as an intern before moving up to graduate assistant, senior quality control and QBs coach.
