Ferris State standout Trinidad Chambliss has officially signed with Ole Miss out of the NCAA transfer portal, On3’s Pete Nakos has learned. Chambliss spent two years with the Bulldogs.

He was an integral part of the Ferris State offense, emerging as a bona fide dual threat from the quarterback position. He was downright electric at times.

Trinidad Chambliss was a second-team All-American in 2024 and threw for 2,925 yards and 26 touchdowns this past season, while throwing only six interceptions. During that time he also racked up 1,019 rushing yards and 25 touchdowns on the ground.

The talented quarterback ran for more than 100 yards in four different games this season. He also ran for multiple touchdowns in eight different games, including the last four of the season.

Trinidad Chambliss will provide some instant pop in an Ole Miss backfield that lost starting quarterback Jaxson Dart to the NFL Draft following the 2024 campaign. The Rebels are looking for additional answers at the position and might just have found them with the Ferris State star.

Lane Kiffin praises SEC spring transfer rule

One thing that makes gathering additional pieces for the roster a little more difficult is an SEC rule that prevents intra-conference transfers in the spring from playing right away. SEC-to-SEC transfers in the spring must sit out a year before playing.

Still, Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin sees that as a benefit, even as he pursues guys like Trinidad Chambliss. He explained why while speaking to reporters earlier this spring.

“I think we are fortunate that a while back when that SEC rule was made, that was a really good decision, because I think all coaches are concerned this time of year with their own players, and that would obviously really set up a bad system of eating our own,” Lane Kiffin said. “And not just eating our own, driving prices up.”
