Transfer Portal Updates - April 25, 2024

Amorion Walker plans to re-enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, per On3’s Pete Nakos. Walker spent two seasons at Michigan before committing to Ole Miss in January. Now, after just over three months with the Rebels, Walker will examine his options in the portal again.

In his two seasons at Michigan, Walker appeared in 12 games. In the 2023 campaign, he played in five games, tallying three tackles and one pass breakup.

Amorion Walker played high school football at Ponchatoula High School (LA), where he was a three-star recruit. He was rated as the No. 470 overall player in the country in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankings, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

He led Ponchatoula to a 12-1 overall record and a 5A state runner-up finish his senior year. He only played in three games his junior year due to injury (hamstring). Walker was part of a team that went 6-5 his sophomore year in 2019.

He was a two-way player for the Greenwaves, hauling in eight catches for 143 yards and a touchdown in the state championship game. Walker also amassed 111 receiving yards with three touchdowns on three catches in a single game in the regular season. As a sophomore, he hauled in 23 catches for 489 yards and two touchdowns.

Walker will be the 19th Ole Miss player to enter the transfer portal this offseason. To offset its losses, the team has also added 19 players via the portal, earning the No. 1 spot in On3’s Transfer Portal Team Rankings.

Ole Miss DT Demarcus Smith enters the NCAA Transfer Portal

Walker isn’t the only loss the program has suffered this week. On Monday, Ole Miss defensive tackle Demarcus Smith announced he plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal. He spent three seasons with the Rebels.

In the 2023 campaign, Smith appeared in two games and made one tackle. Smith did not see action in his first two seasons at Ole Miss. He used his redshirt during his true freshman season.

Demarcus Smith played high school football at Parker (AL), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 585 overall recruit in the 2921 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.
