Lane Kiffin 'very excited' for future of Ole Miss amid Auburn rumors
It’s no secret who Auburn wants to be their next head coach. Ole Miss‘ Lane Kiffin is at the top of the wish list, with people on the Plains hoping he leaves a fellow SEC West competitor to turn around their program. It’s tough to conduct a coaching search while games are still being played but the Tigers have not hidden their intentions.
However, for now, Kiffin is still wearing Ole Miss colors. He was asked about the rumors linking him to Auburn on Saturday, saying he is “very happy” with how things are going in Oxford. Kiffin then stated how excited he was about the Rebels’ future, even with one regular season game remaining.

“I’m very happy here…Very happy here and appreciative of the leadership here,” Kiffin said. “I love being here. There’s a lot of people coming back (next year), a lot of good guys coming back. Very excited about the future.”
Lane Kiffins questions being No. 1 option after Arkansas loss
Ole Miss did not have its best day on the field, getting blown out by Arkansas on the road. Kiffin used that as an opportunity to question why he is the No. 1 option for Auburn.
While athletic director John Cohen is definitely going to change their approach based on one game, Kiffin still took the opportunity to shoot down the rumors.

“Like I said, I love being here,” said Kiffin. “I mean, I don’t want to look to next year already with a regular season game (remaining), but this is not one of those years where you say we’re gonna lose all these guys. There’s a lot of people coming back and a lot of new guys offensively, especially. So, very excited about the future.
“I don’t know that stuff out there — No. 1 stuff. Maybe if they watched the first half I wouldn’t be No. 1 anymore then.”
Both Ole Miss and Auburn have one game remaining on their schedules and they are big ones. Kiffin will lead his team out against Mississippi State, hoping to get another Egg Bowl win on Thanksgiving. As for the Tigers, they have an Iron Bowl showdown in Tuscaloosa.
Huge decisions are ahead of both programs.
