Ole Miss RB Quinshon Judkins and QB Jaxson Dart

An NCAA transfer portal bombshell dropped on Thursday, with Ole Miss running back Quinshon Judkins announcing he planned on leaving. Thought of as one of the best in the country, you would have to imagine schools will be lining up to land Judkins. Not everybody in Oxford seems too bummed out about the move though — at least not quarterback Jaxson Dart.

People having fun on social media is nothing new for Ole Miss and it’s exactly what Dart decided to do. He posted an old clip of legendary quarterback Tom Brady talking about people “about themselves.” While they might be a great player, Brady says he would rather that kind of person play for the other team.

Coming just hours after Judkins’ announcement, the Instagram story is as cryptic of a message as it gets. Maybe Dart wants the running back to wind up on Ole Miss’ schedule next season. There are a few SEC teams the Rebels will not play but based on Brady’s words, Dart does not seem too concerned.

You can check out the full Instagram story here.

Judkins has another star season in 2023, breaking the 1,000-yard mark for the second time in his two-year college career. In total, he rushed for 1,158 yards and 16 touchdowns on 271 carries. Lane Kiffin did mix in Ulysses Bentley in there too when Judkins needed a break.

Now, he is on the open market for other schools to snap up. Judkins will have two years of eligibility remaining but likely only needs one before moving on to the NFL. Whoever lands the running back will have a nice piece for a year.

Ole Miss to maintain high expectations with or without Quinshon Judkins

Ole Miss is expected to carry over the momentum from this season and make a huge run in 2024. The College Football Playoff is likely going to be the preseason expectation for Kiffin’s squad. You would think having a star running back would be part of the equation, especially one with two years of experience.

Kiffin will now have to find a different option, though. Bentley could come back for another season, potentially taking over as the main back. However, Dart will continue to be the focal point of the Ole Miss offense with all the talented weapons around him.

Judkins or no Judkins, Ole Miss will be ready to make a run this fall.
