Jaxson Dart revealed no one was informed of the Ole Miss starting quarterback decision, despite an apparent leak on social media.

The incumbent starter was in a competition, or apparently still is, with transfers Spencer Sanders and Walker Howard. Dart was the favorite coming in, but with no decision from Lane Kiffin yet, Ole Miss fans were left guessing, at least as of Tuesday.

Dart confirmed he does not know the starting quarterback or at least isn’t revealing anything.

“I have not,” Dart said in response to if he’s been informed what his role will be in Week 1.

He was then asked how he’d prepare in that unknown situation.

“Kind of like I said before, I just prepare the same way since I’ve been here,” Dart said. “Nothing’s really changed about that. So that’s my mindset.”

However, Dart is confident in his ability and definitely more confident in the offensive system set by Kiffin.

“Yeah, I feel great about it,” Dart said. “I’m really looking forward to this year and showing that on the field.”

Finally, Dart was asked if there was any chip on his shoulder due to the lack of a starting quarterback announcement. His answer was pretty simple.

“Yeah I think so,” Dart said. “Absolutely.”

Dart also brushed off a question regarding if he thought there’d be a resolution at this point.

“I just, I prepare the same way each and every day and I just know everything’s gonna fall into place and we’re gonna be in a good position as a team,” Dart said.

After transferring from USC, Dart started for Ole Miss in 2022 and finished with 2,974 yards, 20 touchdowns, 11 interceptions and a 62.4% completion percentage.

“I thought quarterback play was really, really strong Saturday,” Kiffin said after the most recent scrimmage. “I thought the week before, the defense in general had a really good Saturday. I thought this Saturday the offense did in both the passing and running game. A bunch more points, much more yards, higher average per carry. So I thought the quarterbacks did some really good things.

“The two older guys made a significant play they’d wanna take back but I saw some really good things and I think we’re in a great position of multiple guys that could go in the game and help us win.”
