Jaxson Dart reveals his biggest areas of growth entering 2022 season
Ole Miss is a few days away from their opener against Troy and still hasn’t named a starting quarterback. Lane Kiffin has yet to commit to either Jaxson Dart or Luke Altmyer as their starter. Even with no decision made yet, Dart says he’s still trying to improve his game headed into the season.
Dart spoke with the media on Monday about where he has grown the most over the offseason. He says he has learned a lot and improved in the Rebel offense just from spending more time on the field with his teammates.

“I’ve definitely felt like there’s been a lot of growth, especially coming from the spring and just having extra time in the offense and being able to just improve on the little things. I think my biggest thing is just being able to get a better understanding of the offense and getting a better rhythm with all the guys,” said Dart.
Dart is one of the newer pieces on the Ole Miss roster after transferring in from USC. Considering he’s only a sophomore, he is still growing as a football player and quarterback. Transferring from LA to Oxford has only added to the learning curve ahead of him. Over time with the program and QB coach Charlie Weis Jr., though, he says he has taken big steps with his confidence and decision making.

“It’s really just kind of been time. Being able to have more with with Coach Weis. We’ve been able to just go through the offense, learn the different schematics and just break it down,” Dart said. “I think decision making, for me, I was a little hesitant at times when I first got here. Now it’s more just me being able to be more confident each and every play to make the right decision. Then let the things play out that way.”
Jaxson Dart has appeared in just six college football games in his very short career. More time should only help him improve more as young quarterback in the sport. Kiffin may not have named a quarterback yet but Dart isn’t leaving anything to chance. He has improved and is still trying to build on his game across the board to make his final case as the starter.
