JJ Pegues injury: Ole Miss DL leaves game vs. South Carolina in 4th quarter
After recording two touchdowns on offense against South Carolina, JJ Pegues appeared to suffer an injury in the fourth quarter. He headed to the sidelines just before Ole Miss took over on an interception by Trey Amos.
Pegues went to make a tackle and appeared to land awkwardly on his left shoulder. He sat on the field and spoke with the trainers before heading to the sideline.
Pegues had one of the most interesting stat lines of the season. He took two carries in for two one-yard touchdowns each, but he also had two touchdowns – including a tackle for loss. He was instrumental in the victory over South Carolina in Columbia.
JJ Pegues appeared on the injury report earlier this week, but was able to play in full against South Carolina. Through five games, he now has 15 tackles, including six tackles for loss and a half sack in his third year at Ole Miss after transferring from Auburn.
Ole Miss dominated on both sides of the ball en route to the 27-3 victory over South Carolina. The Rebels’ offense totaled 425 yards of offense, led by a big day from Jaxson Dart. He completed 14 of 27 passes for 285 yards while adding 44 rushing yards as he got involved in the running game. Henry Parrish led the running game with 21 carries for 81 yards and a touchdown.

Saturday’s game also marked a return to Columbia for Juice Wells. The former South Carolina star transferred to Ole Miss over the offseason and had a strong day, hauling in three receptions for 97 yards to lead the Rebels in receiving.
Before the game, it was a tough reception for Wells. Boos rang out as he made his way into Williams-Brice Stadium. He spent two years with South Carolina before arriving at Ole Miss, including a 928-yard freshman season before an injury-impacted 2023 season.
Ole Miss will now turn its attention to a pivotal SEC matchup next week as conference play heats up. The Rebels will head to Baton Rouge to take on LSU for a primetime affair.
