Kermit Davis declines to comment on Malique Ewin situation, offers support
Ole Miss Rebels basketball coach Kermit Davis declined to comment on the Malique Ewin situation, though he did offer his support.
On January 13th, Malique Ewin, a center on the Ole Miss basketball team, was involved in a deadly car crash. It was a one-car accident where the victim was airlifted to the hospital in Memphis, where they eventually died. Police are investigating the accident and Ewin hasn’t played since the accident.
“Yeah, I can’t comment on Malik’s personal situation,” Kermit Davis said.
“Obviously, we care about him deeply and [are] providing him all of the support we can during this time, but just kind of what we’ve talked about, you know, can’t comment on a personal matter.”
Just a freshman, Ewin played in 14 games this season and averaged 6.1 minutes per game, though he was starting to get more playing time. However, it’s unclear what the rest of the season is going to look like while he’s out with this personal matter.

As for the Ole Miss team, the Rebel will need to focus and continue to prepare for each and every game. Next up is a non-conference game against Oklahoma State.
