Lane Kiffin addresses the arrest of Zxavian Harris
Ole Miss defensive lineman Zxavian Harris was arrested over the weekend and charged with domestic violence and obstructing arrest.
Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin commented on the matter after practice on Monday.
“We were made aware of that and still gathering information on that,” Kiffin said. “And I don’t have other comment but that.”
According to arrest records from the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department records, Harris was charged and booked on Sunday evening at 6:42 p.m. at the Lafayette County jail, per a report from David Eckert of the Clarion Ledger.
Specific details of the incident have not been explicitly revealed as of this report.
This follows a July 2023 arrest where he was charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving, being a minor in possession, not using headlights, running a stop sign, and felony fleeing.
A 6-foot-7, 320-pound defensive lineman, Harris is a Madison, Mississippi native who played high school football at Germantown High School.
He was a four-star prospect ranked the No. 14 defensive lineman and the No. 112 overall player in the 2022 recruiting class according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services.
In 2022, he recorded three tackles, 0.5 tackles for loss and a blocked extra point attempt in 13 games before seeing an increased role in 2023. His sophomore season saw him compile 30 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack and three QB hurries.

If Harris’ absence from the team is long-standing, returning Rebels like Jared Ivey and JJ Pegues along with new additions like Princely Umanmielen and Walter Nolen will figure to hold down the defensive front in 2024.
For Ole Miss, the Rebels are coming off a record-setting 11-2 season in 2023 that was capped with a Peach Bowl victory. It was the second time in two seasons that Kiffin led the Rebels to a 10-win season. Similar win totals are expected in 2024.
Offensively, Quarterback Jaxson Dart is back for another season and looks to lead the Rebels into becoming one of the top offenses in the SEC, and the nation while the defense looks to hold it down on the other side of the ball.
The Rebels will open their season on Aug. 31 against Furman, and won’t begin SEC play until Sept. 28 in a Week 5 matchup at home against the Kentucky Wildcats. They’ll also play LSU, Oklahoma, Georgia and Florida down the stretch this fall.
