Lane Kiffin is getting Ole Miss ready to play his former team, Tennessee, using a familiar tune.

At practice on Tuesday, the Rebels can be seen conducting practice with “Rocky Top” blaring in the background.

Kiffin did the same thing over the summer, and Ole Miss reporter Brad Logan shared the video. This time, Kiffin is promoting the music choice himself.

Tennessee was Kiffin’s first head coaching job at the college level. He held the position for just one year in 2009 before a tumultuous ending in Knoxville and a new start as USC’s head coach the following year. At the time, Kiffin was just 33 years old, making him the youngest head coach in college football.

Kiffin went 7-6 in his year at Tennessee. He nearly beat then No. 1 Alabama in a game with a final score of 12-10. His team averaged 226.3 passing yards per game, which was third in the SEC in the 2009 season.

Rebels-Volunteers game could be another SEC shootout

Kiffin returns to Neyland Stadium for the first time as a head coach since his controversial exit in a matchup of two the country’s hottest offenses.

Kiffin-run offenses posting large numbers of points is nothing new, and this season’s team is no exception. Ole Miss did have issues scoring against Alabama, but they bounced back last week in a 52-51 win over Arkansas. They remain second in the country in yards per game with 561.6.

Outside of a 38-14 loss at the hands of Florida, Tennessee has scored at least 38 points in every game, including 62 points against Missouri two weeks ago.

This contest has an over/under of 81 as of Tuesday afternoon, so Vegas is clearly expecting a high-scoring shootout as well. The SEC Network will have the game at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. The Rebels are a 3-point favorite.
