Lane Kiffin calls out SEC for always giving LSU night games
After the release of another weekend’s schedule in the SEC, Lane Kiffin wasn’t pleased with another earlier draw for Ole Miss.
During his press conference on Monday, Kiffin actually brought LSU into it with his answer.
“So, who went at night? LSU gets to play at night again, I guess? Shocker,” said Kiffin. “That’s two for two for them.”
On November 9th, Ole Miss will host Georgia in what should be a top-rated matchup within the Southeastern Conference. However, it’s in the afternoon slot that day with kickoff set for 3:30 ET on ABC. Alabama vs. LSU in Death Valley, another very important game in the league, then follows that at 7:30 ET.
This comes just over two weeks after the Tigers hosted the Rebels for a Top-15 matchup at night in Baton Rouge. LSU went on to win it in overtime by three with their fans storming the field after the game-winning touchdown catch on their one and only play of the extra period.

Now, Ole Miss will have played a majority of their games at noon or in the early afternoon this season. Through eight games overall, the Rebels have only played three games at night with just one of those being in Oxford with it being their opening win against Furman. In their final four, they’ll keep playing in either the morning or afternoon windows, including both of their remaining home games against Georgia and Mississippi State.
That’s less of an advantage for them and something that disappoints Kiffin for those in The ‘Sip with no night games this year against their opponents in conference play.
“Yeah, I mean, I think that’s proven over time in the NFL and college, you know. Playing at night in electric atmospheres is a home-field advantage. Tough when you’ve got to do that as an opposing team,” Kiffin said. “So that’s been proven for a long time…It is an advantage.”
“I feel bad for our fans not having one night conference game. It’s really unfortunate for them,” said Kiffin. “So, whatever. It’s just really disappointing but it is what it is.”
