Ole Miss tight end Michael Trigg

Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin confirmed that tight end Michael Trigg is no longer a part of the program on an SEC teleconference call on Wednesday afternoon.

News that Trigg was no longer part of the team surfaced on Tuesday, when his profile on Ole Miss’ website and the official team roster disappeared.

“Yeah, we wish him nothing but the best,” Kiffin said. “That’s it, wish him nothing but the best and he’s not part of our program. That’s it.”

Trigg had made varying contributions over the last three years, playing for two different programs. So far this season he had accounted for four catches for 65 yards and a touchdown.

But in three years in college he had totaled 28 catches for 330 yards and five touchdowns, a nice threat in the red zone when healthy and available.

Prior to his enrollment at Ole Miss, Michael Trigg spent a year at USC, where he signed out of high school. Before that he was one of the most highly sought after recruits in the 2021 recruiting class. He was a four-star prospect and ranked as the No. 143 overall player in the nation in his cycle.

Trigg also checked in as the No. 4 tight end in the class and the No. 21 overall player from the state of Florida, hailing from Tampa (Fla.) Carrollwood Day.

Quinshon Judkins beginning to feel comfortable

It’s been a little bit of a slow start for last year’s star freshman, running back Quinshon Judkins, and with Michael Trigg now gone, the Rebels need all their playmakers firing on all cylinders.

While Judkins and the Rebels couldn’t defeat Alabama on Saturday, the ball carrier looked more and more like himself in Tuscaloosa. He rushed for 56 yards on 13 carries, and afterwards he explained how much better he’s beginning to feel on the field.

“I would definitely say that I was healthier this game than I was the past few games, coming in with you know, the injury that I had,” explained the Ole Miss running back. “I felt really good Saturday.”

It’s been a relatively slow start to the season for Judkins, but that’s only because of the standard he set in 2022. The Rebels running back still has amassed 201 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns on the season, and Ole Miss possesses a solid 3-1 record.

He’ll be looking to kick it into full gear this weekend against LSU.
