Ole Miss doesn’t play Alabama until November 12th. In the meantime, the Rebels have to play four SEC games, including three games against teams from the SEC West. Still, even with all of that, Lane Kiffin is still fighting against rat poison.

On Twitter, ESPN’s Chris Low tweeted out praise for Ole Miss’ offensive and defensive balance. He pointed out that Ole Miss is 9th nationally with 33 plays from scrimmage of more than 20 yards and tied for 5th nationally with only 11 plays of more than 20 yards allowed.

Where Lane Kiffin found rat poison in those comments was the comparison that Low made. Alabama is the only other team in the country who is top 10 in offense and top 5 in defense.

So, Lane Kiffin took to Twitter to respond with his own quote tweet. He used emojis to call the stat and comparison rat poison, before asking to have Ole Miss and Alabama left alone.

Lane Kiffin loves to call praise and media discussion that compares Ole Miss favorably to teams like Alabama rat poison. It actually comes from Nick Saban, who Kiffin worked for at Alabama previously.

As Saban previously explained, there are two types of rat poison. There is the poison that the media puts out there that makes players believe their own hype. Then, there is the rat poison that motivates a team to prove the media wrong–like what was handed out to Alabama heard ahead of the 2021 SEC Championship Game.

“The rat poison you usually put out there is fatal. But the rat poison you put out there this week was yummy,” Saban said.

Lane Kiffin continues rat poison jokes

Ahead of Ole Miss’ game against a relatively weak Vanderbilt team, Lane Kiffin is keeping the rat poison jokes rolling. This time, however, he did so with QuinShon Judkins’ mother.

The Ole Miss Twitter account praised QuinShon Judkins, a three-star running back from the Class of 2022, who leads the nation in freshman rushing yards. His mother tweeted that everyone needs to, “Prepare to witness his realest year.”

Kiffin called this rat poison, to which Judkins’ mother said that they buy into the values of the organization. Kiffin loved it, saying that the team is on to Vandy.
